 Daniel Anderson, MD, FACP

Dr. Daniel S. Anderson is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Diego. Singe 1984 he has been a staff Gastroenterologist for Southern California Permanente Medial Group (SCPMG) in San Diego. He served as the Chief of Internal Medicine for Kaiser Permanente San Diego from 1986 to 2004. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of SCPMG. He is the Chair of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Guideline Development Committee for SCPMG. He has held that position since 1994. A graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, he completed his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego. He went on to become the Chief of Gastroenterology at the Balboa Naval Hospital San Diego from 1979 to 1984. He is presently a member of a SCPMG Colon Cancer Screening Task Force that has doubled the number of colonoscopies done in SCPMG since 2004. This task force has also doubled the SCPMG colorectal cancer screening rate since 2004 using a comprehensive FOBT outreach program. In 2006 he was appointed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the California Colorectal Cancer Coalition (C4) whose objective is to save lives and reduce suffering from colorectal cancer in all Californians.
